St Matthew's Parish Church's Easter celebration begins with services throughout April
After a long Lent, Kingsley residents are delighted to welcome the Easter spirit to St Matthew's church. Holy week begins on Palm Sunday with Mass, and ends on Easter Sunday with a Choral song.
The Vicar emphasises the importance of Easter; "For Christians, Easter is the greatest feast of all. It is the day Jesus broke the chains of death and rose triumphant from the grave. It is truly 'The Day of the Lord.'"
The schedule is expected to run as followed:
Sunday 2 April: Palm Sunday
9.30am - Liturgy of Palms, Procession to Church and Parish Mass of the Passion
5.30pm - Service of Penitence and Forgiveness for Holy Week
Monday 3 April
7.30pm - Mass with homily
Tuesday 4 April
7.30pm - Mass with homily
Wednesday 5 April
9.30am - Mass with homily
7.30pm - Vigil Office of Tenebrae
Thursday 6 April: Maundy Thursday
7.30pm - Liturgy of Last Supper, Foot washing, Stripping of the Alter, Watch at the Garden of Gethsemane
Friday 7 April: Good Friday
10.30am - Stations of the Cross
2.00pm - Solemn Liturgy
Saturday 8 April: Holy Saturday
8.00pm - Pascal Vigil and First Mass of Easter
Sunday 9 April
10.15pm - Procession and Parish Mass of Resurrection
5.30pm - Solemn Choral Evensong
