Kingsley residents have been noticing the absence of the well-loved church bells chiming when the clock turns to the next hour.
St Matthew's Church, situated in the heart of Kingsley, has announced that their bells are set to undergo maintenance work.
The bell clappers which were installed in the early 20th century have been removed by Smiths of Derby to be refurbished after 120 years of use.
Residents have made clear that they wish to see the bells return.
One local commented: “I love these bells, they’re one of my favourite things about where we live. There's nothing better than hearing the bells on a sunny afternoon."
The church has said that locals can expect to see the bells returned within a month.
