Local Menopause Café offers support to Kingsley residents

Kingsley Café offers support to those impacted by menopause with monthly meetups to talk about concerns, queries and problems.

Heather's Café, host of the menopause meetings

Menopause Cafés exist around the world, but they wouldn’t be possible without local communities putting in the work. Heather Korbey hosts a menopause café in her Kingsley café, Heather’s. Anyone of any social group is invited for a cup of tea and a talk about how menopause is effecting their health, mood and lifestyle in a safe environment.

“It’s a ten-year phase, everyone’s going to be going through it with you.” Heather emphasises the importance of these discussions. The group gathers and anonymously writes questions to discuss the effects of menopause in a safe, secure space with no judgement.

Heather shares her personal experience with menopause. She questioned what she was going through and felt it was important to have a support group available. “It’s a nice, quiet, peaceful café.” She explains how she utilised her business to host the group. “That’s enough to talk and let everybody have their say.”

The group has led to worldwide connections, bringing people of all backgrounds together for open discussions about a very common experience. As the group increases in numbers, Heather hopes to move to a bigger venue to accommodate for a larger group.
