Planning permission application made for Kingsley Racecourse trees

Kingsley residents can expect to see some small changes at The Racecourse park following a planning application submitted to the council.

The Racecourse, Northampton, is a popular park featuring various sports facilities and events taking place across the year.

This week, an application was lodged with West Northamptonshire Council in order to obtain permission for “works to trees” regarding the Tilia planted across the Racecourse and East Park Parade.

The application seeks to acquire the authorisation to remove epicormic growth from ground level to three metres high, or the first major union depending on which is the highest.


The park features a variety of trees and plants

An epicormic growth is identified as a shoot growing from an epicormic bud which lies beneath the tree's bark.

This type of growth is usually an indication that the tree has been damaged and has set out to repair itself.


Usually these growths are no risk, but if they are loosely attached to the tree, they may pose a risk in adverse weather conditions.
