Love him or hate him, Jeremy Corbyn, former leader of the Labour Party, has made political history. Back in September 2015, he was proclaimed Labour's new leader by winning the first round with almost 59.5% of the party member's vote, higher than his predecessor, three-time election winner Tony Blair. He attempted to bring in new, progressive policies and many view him as the most left-wing Labour leader they had. However, despite Corbyn's success in winning over the party, he lost both the 2017 and 2019 election, forcing him to step down.

In 2020, Corbyn was suspended from the party entirely, which caused mixed reactions from the members. Some quit the party in protest, some were delighted, and others continued support resentfully. According to Skwawkbox, an independent left-wing media company, Labour councillors watching this film would breech Labour's rules, which in turn, has raised debate among Labour members.

The film, featuring "I, Daniel Blake" director Ken Loach, is a documentary following Corbyn's rise to power and delves into the forced that alleged brought him down. It has sparked controversy, making headlines after being cancelled at a Carlisle venue with no explanation.

Tickets will cost £5 for Film Club members, and £7.50 for non-members. Screening will take place at Kingsley Park Working Men's Club, 120-126 Kingsley Park Terrace, Northampton, NN2 7HJ, on Sunday 30 April. It's expected to start at 1.30pm.
